INDIE ARTIST OF THEE WEEK.

META-4
Meta-4 is a hip-hop rapper that was raised in both the slow-paced slums of Asbury Park, NJ and the fast-city-life in Brooklyn, NY. The contrast between these two environments influences Meta-4 current style of music. He takes you on a journey through his flamboyant lifestyle, which can motivate the laziest person. Even more important is how lyrical he is without being preachy which has built him a fan base from all walks of life.Meta-4 has dropped three projects in the past and is currently working on a mix-album called “Don’t Sign Me”, which is schedule for release in July 2009. This phrase is undoubtedly aimed at record companies but the question to ask is "Why?" "It's counter-intuitive because all smart artists end up signing with a label, whether it's a major, independent, or their own. It's just a bold statement that's going to raise eyebrows but that's exactly what I want it to do. And while they questioning the motive behind it, they’re gettin’ hit with powerful, undeniable music. So at the end of the day they not going to have a choice but to wanna sign me. Ha!" This ingenious way of thinking, as well as the quality of music Meta-4 produces will soon take him over the top and build a loyal following that will last until he's ready to retire. From the looks of things, that time is far from now. He has done several shows this year, his latest includes the “Hustle Ya Flow” showcase in which he won a spot on “Shit Like That” radio with DJ Don Demarco and also a meeting with A&R’s at Atlantic Records. The best is yet to come and he is just getting started.

bottomline: he is GOOOD.
